PUNE: Entrepreneurs working at the incubation centre of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) will provide solutions to various issues faced by Pune Smart City projects. A memorandum of understanding was signed on Wednesday between the varsity and Pune Smart City for this purpose. As many as 50 ideas have been received by the incubation centre for Smart City projects. Entrepreneurs from the Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Linkages at SPPU will provide support in terms of ideas and solutions to Pune Smart City, vice-chancellor Nitin Karmalkar said. Karmalkar and chief executive officer of Pune Smart City Rajendra Jagap signed the MoU. Karmalkar said, “The MoU is going to benefit the entrepreneurs as well as Smart City project. Apart from this, innovators would also get an opportunity to execute their business ideas through the Smart City project.” The innovators would also be able to develop the necessary software, big data analysis, digital infrastructure, among others. If required, the Smart City project would also fund innovators, Karmalkar said.
The innovation centre had recently invited ideas from students. As many as 50 ideas were received by the incubation centre. The selected ideas would be evaluated for the purpose of scaling up.
